A Family Affair: Designing Makenzie & Jacob’s Fall Rustic Wedding

When your brother-in-law and his soon-to-be wife ask you to design their wedding stationery, it’s not just a project, it’s an honor. Creating Makenzie and Jacob’s wedding suite was especially meaningful to me because it blended two things I love most: family and design. From the very beginning, Makenzie and Jake wanted their wedding to feel warm, rustic, and full of the energy that perfectly captures who they are as a couple, youthful, fun-loving, and so full of joy.

Bringing Their Vision to Life

We started by pulling inspiration from their fall wedding palette rich, earthy tones, cozy textures, embossing floral details and a touch of romance. Makenzie trusted me completely, which allowed me to design something that not only fit their rustic theme but also reflected my love for the two of them. Every detail was chosen with intention, from the paper texture to the typography, creating a suite that felt personal and perfectly “them.”

It meant so much to have someone who knows us so well create something so personal. She poured so much love and care into the designs, and you could feel it in every piece. Nicole didn’t just design our stationery; she created memories we’ll treasure forever.

The Finishing Touches

To carry the stationery style through their day, we created coordinating pieces that tied everything together beautifully. A large scale frosted acrylic welcome sign and stand with the table numbers matched the suite’s fall look with frosted acrylic and gold foil lettering, and one of my favorite elements, a custom mini shot label for their “shot wall” was such a fun and unique reflection of their personalities. Guests loved it! We also finished the look with a gorgeous mirror seating chart, with custom wax seals which added a touch of elegance to the rustic setting.

A Labor of Love

Designing for people you love brings an extra layer of heart to every decision. Being part of Makenzie and Jacob’s wedding in this way was truly special. Seeing it all come to life and watching guests react to it was one of those full-circle moments that remind me why I adore what I do, especially when it’s for family. Congrats guys!
