Building Kathleen & Rahul’s Modern Midwest Celebration

Working with Kathleen and Rahul on their Ohio wedding was such a joy from start to finish. The couple, based in California, celebrated a traditional Indian wedding earlier in India, and this second soriee was a chance to gather with family and friends closer to home.

Their Vision Was Clear:

Create a modern, joyful atmosphere while incorporating subtle nods to Rahul’s heritage. I had the pleasure of collaborating with Kathleen’s mom, Cindy, who helped coordinate many of the local details. From our first meeting, it was clear how much love and intention this family was putting into the day. Cindy and Kathleen are warm, thoughtful, and wonderfully organized—which made the design process seamless and fun.

The Details That Made It Special

For their wedding stationery, I chose a clean, contemporary aesthetic with elegant touches. Think: soft whites, warm gold foils, and the occasional pop of rich green—woven in tastefully through accents and typography.

Nicole has an amazing sense of style and a wonderful intuition for what we were hoping for with our invitations. Everything turned out perfect and we got so many complements. But on top of that, she was delightful to work with. Positive, kind, helpful, communicative.

Beyond Invitations: The Day-Of Touches

For the day-of materials, we created a cohesive, elevated experience that was both stylish and personal. Every piece was designed to feel intentional and polished, to seamlessly coordinate with the invitation suite but taking it a step further and adding in bold pinks, cayennes and chartreuse green.

The seating chart was displayed on a brushed gold easel. The layout was clean and easy to navigate, and we added the watercolor details that tied everything together beautifully. For the place cards, each guest’s name and mounted to a bold chartreuse green tent card. Meal indicator symbols were added for wait staff to know each guests entree selection. And, lastly the table numbers featured gold foil vinyl applied to clear acrylic and stood in mahogany wood stands. Every piece was created with cohesion in mind.

A Wedding to Remember

What stood out most was how this day felt like such a true reflection of Kathleen and Rahul—joyful, grounded, and full of thoughtful touches. From the heartfelt ceremony to the upbeat reception, every moment felt intentional and full of meaning.

Congratulations again to this incredible couple! It was such an honor to be a small part of your celebration.
